Compare this structure to the VERB～てから (after doing) that we learnt in Level 1

• Both structures have essentially the same meaning, but ～たあとで conveys a stronger sense that the second action will not (or cannot) take place until after the first action has been completed.

りょかん  に  ついた後で、おふろ  に  入る つもり　です。

• After we've arrived at the inn, I intend to have a bath.
