Speaking Hypothetically, Using
なら
なら is an alternative to ~たら, which we learnt in Year 12.
- ~なら means "if it is ~"
- Use ~なら after a noun.
EXAMPLES
あしたなら、行けます。
- If it's tomorrow, I can go.
その次の日なら、ちょっとだめですよ。
- If it's the day after that, I'm afraid it's no good.
本当の友だちなら、分かってくれるでしょう。
- If they're a real friend, they'll understand, won't they?
まあ、そうなら、いいけど... (This one's just for conversation.)
- Well, if that were the case it would be good (but...)
